Another four inches this morning and it has been snowing on and off all day so far. It doesn't look real though. It's all in itty bitty balls. If it weren't for the fact that it's melting in places where there are cars and grit and the temperature's quite low, you'd be forgiven for thinking that a polystyrene factory had exploded.

But my new shoe/boots are officially awesome. I didn't fall over twice and I was walking at almost my normal walking pace, also - my feet are dry, and they're comfortable. I should buy kids' boots more often (boys, I might add) they're cheaper and did I mention they are so comfortable.

It just started snowing again, quite heavily. Yay! Now I'm inside I can be happy and smug and not getting snow in my eyes and ears. Joy.

In other news: DSU brownies still rock my world. My essay on Old Norse Mythology is apparently technical and could be a very good essay (don't you hate it when people say that, especially with the accent on the 'could', you know they're thinking: 'this would be good if someone else were writing it, but as it's you I suppose we'll have to hope for vaguely coherent'). And I got a 65 for my craptastic attempt at a comparison between Blake and Coleridge, despite the fact I used Blake's Songs, which (I heard the tutor telling the person before me) are a little too simple for use at a University level. Admittedly, in order to pull my degree up to a first I'd need to drag that mark up to a 75, but that's doable right (if I avoid the stupid grammar mistakes and the paragraph long sentences... right?)

So I'm screwed if I want a first. Oy vey. C'est la vie and all that jazz.

I want to play in snow, but I have two essays to write.

If I curl up into a ball and lie on my bed with my fingers in my ears, do you think the essays will give up and go away?

Woke up this morning and the world was white.

This has happened for the last few days, but this is the first time I've been out in it (the joys of an Arts' student's life - 2 day week ftw). There were a good six inches in places.

The slight problem? As I may have mentioned before every pair of shoes I have (so there are only three pairs, but that is not the point) has no sole left to them because they are so worn and, because I loathe shoe shopping, I haven't bought any more. They are all, also, decidedly un-waterproof. ^_^;; I may have been a bit stupid about this. However - it hasn't snowed seriously up here for the last two years. It's just typical of it to snow manically in my final year.

So I chose the shoes that would probably be the warmest and just set out. I only fell over once, and even then I managed to turn it into a crouch rather than falling on my arse, which I was quite proud of, considering my bag was full of library books.

Also, the shoes were waterproof - for half an hour, which is the exact amount of time it took me to get to my lecture. Sadly I needed to walk around town in between my lectures and then to the library and back up the other hill after my Dissertation workshop. So when they decided they didn't want to be waterproof anymore (round about immediately after I walked out of my first lecture) my feet became very very wet.

Luckily, the boots were still warm, so the water did not stay cold for long. Meh... and once it's happened there's not really much you can do so I was having a great time coming back up the hill. Snow is so pretty!

And it's the perfect kind of snow for making snowmen... although as I said before I have no suitable shoes and the only pair I have that I would consider going out in are now perched on my airer by my radiator in the hopes that they will be dry (and waterproof) again by tomorrow morning for my Friday lecture.

Yeah, I know... unlikely.

But still - I may go make a snowman anyway (despite my rather magnificent lack of Merlin fic for [ profile] merlin_the_elf I'm sure people will understand...

They won't, will they? *sigh* So I guess I'll have to look out the window and imagine that I'm making a snowman.
